I think the reason why some theists may do that is because some atheists say there is no proof for God and so it is foolish for us to believe if there is no proof. So this is kind of their way of turning it around. I think when that happens, both sides are kind of doing the double standard thing.
Then I totally misread the intent of your question, and I apologize. And, thank you for your honest answer to my question of why god exists. I’ll take that over dishonest apologist crap any day!
