Just my own nails. It was when I was building the forms for the raised perimeter foundation, and was using a 2 pound hammer to drive the 16d nails, as I was getting impatient with the progress, using the 16 oz framing hammer. If you've ever hit your thumb with a 2 pound steel hammer, you know what I mean. My eldest son (age 5-ish) was playing in the yard when I hit my thumb. He turned and asked, "Daddy, why are you saying those words?". I was busy putting smudges in the air in my vicinity, so I didn't answer immediately. Sad part is, I had to keep working with that throbbing thumb. Fuck, that hurt. In those days I was programming in electromagnetic code. My speed was greatly reduced at the space bar...
