I've studied more science than you think.  Do you realize how much science is involved in mechanical engineering studies and application?

Yes, I do.  

I majored in biology for a year and half, then double majored in physics and aeronautical engineering. I also have a masters in mechanical engineering.

In engineering, one primarily receives what relevant fields of science has found.  Really not much about the deeper underpinning of the scientific method and how science is actually done, especially not developments in the philosophy of science, especially not the process of discovery of things that is fundamental to understanding but not immediately susceptible to application by engineering is needed to pass all the tests, include the specifically science classes required in the typical curriculum.

If your exposure to science is having received laws and relations it has discovered in the course of engineering study, then it is perhaps not too surprising you could think what you received from your bible obsession and those of like obsession is much the same as science.

I can see why it is hard for you to turn to the truth than at this point, investing so much in a false belief such as atheism.

ID is not religiously inspired.  It is science but it has religious implications.
