The Confidence Game: The Psychology of the Con and Why We Fall for It Every Time
It's a good book although it annoys me how it talks about people as if they all think the same way without exception. Basically it describes how cons work from a psychology view point. It's really useful to understand how you can be susceptible to the psychological tricks that con artists play and why they work.
It made the point that the Nigerian scams are so obviously fake because only the most gullible respond, otherwise they would have far too many potential marks who each require too much effort.
What I loved about the book though was the last chapter. It didn't come out straight and say that religion was a con, but it described all the similarities and why religion was such fertile ground for con artists.
Long been a favorite subject of mine.
