Whether this is ever going to happen, I don't know. America seems to have dug its heels in pretty far. But newer generations will eventually be in charge, and attitudes shift.
There is something different here, the NRA, and that is the driving force behind the paranoia of the frightened gun owners. Its a tool of the gunmakers and it is quite good at creating and feeding fear.
