Trump addressing reporters this morning when asked about NOKO, "We're talking to them now." He added that talks could happen on the 12th, "....but we'll see."
It's not necessarily bad news but it does make NK look slightly better than your orange turd blossom when they act like the bigger person and still offer to extend the olive branch after turd blossom sends a letter containing mixed messages. IJS.
The North Koreans knows trump staked so much on the talks that there is not a lot of concessions he won’t give to create the apparence of having pulled off a diplomatic coup.
What they want to know is how hard he will push to denuclearize. They want a lengthy process where North Korea commits to nothing in the short term, and in the long term the US will commit to leave the Korean penninsula before North Korea has to do anything substantive.
If Kim pulls this off, not only would have effectively given away nothing while attaining the most cherished goal of the Kim family for the last 68 years, he would also have rallied much the South Korea behind himself.
It is not at all unlikely that trump will give him just that in order to fulfill his short term political goal of impressing his base by selling out america’s long term nationally interest.
The fact that trump will do this is seen in his decision to move Us ambassy to Jerusalem. Irrespective of any other concern this may effect, and there is a prodigious list of weighty reasons why such a move would be a calamity, this move is the holy grail of Israeli diplomacy. Israel will offer colossal concessions to the US in return for this. What did trump do to avail his country of the price Israel will pay for this move? Nothing.
He gave it away for free, exposing the US to massive consequences indefinitely for absolutely nothing in return, except a perhaps short boost to his standing amongst his disgraceful base.
So very likely if the meeting with Kim were to go on, Trump would sign away the entire American position in east Asia gained through WWII and maintained assiduously over 73 years through treasure, arms and diplomacy, much as he had done in Europe, and the middle east.
