We were looking at that, but this looks more black than purple.
The discoloration in the venous structure of the leaf points more towards a nutritional defiency than a virus/ bacteria/ insect problem. Do you live where you need to lime your soil? You can contact your local ag center and find out what minerals your local soil lacks. Purplish coloration might be a phosphorous defiency. But I am stumped!
