I know what you meant by that, but i don't even think he reached that lofty high (for him) as soon as the assertion of design, god or intelligence is mentioned, it's simply not science anymore.  he won't understand why that is a problem though, heck ten years ago i would have even agreed with him, it's amazing how much clearer things become when you don't pre-suppose a god to attach your 'don't know's' to.

It's about functional highly sophisticated information always coming from an intelligence.  It's not about a bunch of don't knows.

No sorry, "information" is a human word, not a magic sky wizard.

You are confusing how scientific language uses words verses how laypeople like you daydream at the prospect of a sky wizard being real.

The same bullshit you are pulling with the word "information" is the same mistake theists pull with the word "theory" in trying to claim it is just a guess.

" Information" in scientific terms isn't implying a sky ghost as a gap answer. It is a word used to describe human observation, it isn't meant to prop up Allah or Yahweh or Vishnu or Buddha. 

Just like "Theory" isn't a mere guess in science, nor does the word 'theory" prop up Allah or Yahweh or Vishnu or Buddha.

Theist apologists, and not just Christians, but of all labels, constantly twist words that scientists use to get it to point to their respective clubs. Scientific method is not a religion and is not there to point to your specific club.

"Information" in scientific language does not point to a super natural cognition. It does NOT imply cognitive design.

What you are mentally, and needlessly doing to yourself is selection bias and sample rate error. If everything is "designed" then why can humans choke because they share the same eating and breathing tube, whereas whales and dolphins don't have that problem? If complexity equaled ID then why do cockroaches and bacteria outnumber humans?

If "design" were the case, then out of our 13.8 billion year old universe, and only 4 billion year old planet, if all this was put here for humans, why wait until 200,000 years to make us, then only 10,000 years to get to having humans write things down? Seems like a ton of waste to me if you want to claim a super cognition pulling our strings.

Then there is the moral problem with such a claimed being. If one were to pretend for argument's sake that such a being existed, my rational brain can only conclude that under such a parameter, that to this thing, we are merely lab rats, property or toys.

An estimated 50 to 60 million humans, depending on year, DIE from everything at every age, worldwide. That is half a billion in 10 years and 1 billion deaths every 20 years.

If that is a plan, or "design", I'd call it shitty, and not only shitty, but cruel.

I think the better option is, there is no magic sky hero and if we want to extend our finite ride as a species, we only have each other.

The other problem with this logic, is that of "infinite regress". If every thing has a designer, then that designer had a designer, and that designer had a designer, and so on and so on. It makes much more sense to me that humans when they speak of the super natural are merely projecting their own desires, insecurities and narcissism in the form of fictional heros they call gods. Most humans get sold a religion at birth, prior to being able to formulate adult critical thinking skills.
