Haidar Al-Karrar is a nick name of Imam Ali. Haider was the name given to him by his blessed mother. While Ali was the name given by God and Mohammad.

Haider means Lion and yes the Quran recalls the statues of Solomon, which the Bible recalls as Twelve Giant Lions.

Al-Karrar is just a title we add to it to emphasize on the meaning.

The Lion that overcomes/defeats is the translation.
