Hawking calculated infinite curvature at the start of the Big Bang.  Infinite curvature means no time, no matter.  Everything literally came from nothing.  It's amazing.

I find it hilarious when you make quotes like this, you clearly don't retain the bits you don't like, on an interview about the same paper Hawkings said

"There was never a Big Bang that produced something from nothing. It just seemed that way from mankind's perspective," Hawking said, hinting that a lot of what we believe is derived from a human-centric perspective, which might limit the scope of human knowledge of the world.
