Yes, that is the pertinent question. This whole thread is a demonstration of this guy's lack of imagination, and declaration of belief. Ironically enough, it's the theist here who needs to open his mind.

This isn't the first conversation I've had with someone who thinks that reality conforms to what they believe or state, rather than it being merely their opinion which may or may not be true.

The problem is when people need things to be true.

You can't get a universe from nothing, not even a simple universe.  This one is super-symmetrical/fine-tuned and definitely designed by a Creator.

Again,  you are close-minded to anything else being offered as a reason for how things got to be as they are. It's okay to say that we really don't know. It's okay to say that science doesn't have all the answers. It's also okay for science to upgrade or  improve its answers as time goes on.

Whats not okay is to use some magical sky daddy as an excuse or to insist that everything has a design,  when you can't back it up with concrete facts.  Just because you've repeated your opinion 300 times doesn't make it true.

ID is science and does not identify a Creator.  I personally believe the Creator is the Christian God of the Bible.  Allah in the Quran says he is the greatest deceiver.  He is mentioned as a great deceiver many times in the Quran.  The Christian Bible says God is perfectly holy and cannot lie or deceive.  It labels the devil as the author of lies.

According to your Bible,  the devil has only killed 10 people,  while your god has committed genocide, sent plagues to earth, let people wander for 40 years in the desert, flooded earth because he was unhappy that his people were doing exactly what was in his "plan", etc, etc.
Who's the evil one exactly? Seems the devil is a champion for good while your god runs amok, leaving destruction in his wake.

Science has had nearly a century to state how man came about.  They still have not found the link between man and monkey.  They have found that DNA goes back to one man and one woman but not much more is known about them.  DNA then proves design with its sophistication and the construction and operation of molecular machines all in this fine-tuned universe which came from nothing.  This has to be the end of atheism.  The proof and evidence is way too strong to grasp onto that last straw of atheism.  Atheism is a dead issue.
