Some background - about ten years ago Aberdeenshire Council rejected a planning application by Trump to build a golf course at a place called Menie. Environmental organisations fought it tooth and nail as it was on a site of special scientific interest (also known as a SSSI), a UK wide conservation designation. Unfortunately the Scottish Government overruled the council and gave Trump permission. The site is due to lose its SSSI rating soon due to the damage done.
Today Highland Council have, despite the recommendation from their planning team to refuse it, given approval to a golf course on a SSSI, a Special Protection Area (a European conservation designation) and a Ramsar site, which is from an international treaty to protect wetland sites.
Trump only trashed a site of national importance. These developers want to trash a site of international importance. They're actually worse than Trump, which takes some doing these days.
