Peter Fonda Makes Vulgar Tweet Suggesting That Barron Trump Be Kidnapped

The office deserve as much respect as the system of which it is a part.  A system that can put a trump in that office will only be enabled and encouraged to do more unremediated damage if it continue to be accorded a formal respect as one that functioned adaquately.   Disrespecting the system now is the only chance there is to prompt the system to correct itself to the degree where it can begin to earn deserved respect again.     Otherwise The formal respect it no longer deserve would simply be a shield for those who robbed it of its respectability to hide behind to while continuing to use the system to do further damage.

The system deserves disrespect?  What Democracy?  Voting? Because that is the system that put Trump into office.  And I think a big reason for that happening, including the hidden surge of voters not seen in pre election polls, is the disrespect of that system aka the people that voted for Trump.  If you think continuing down that same path is going to work well come mid terms and 2020 I would strongly urge you to reconsider.

And again I'll say, the comments that came from Samantha Bee and Peter Fonda were not directed at Trump, the office, or "the system."  They were directed at his children.  Where in the past has it been remotely appropriate for any previous president's family to receive that kind of rampant hatred with no consequences?

You think if it has votes and you can pin the label “democracy” on a system then that system automatically becomes its own justification?

What exactly is this democracy and voting?   It is the system that works by rewarding the group or coalition that is most effective in disenfranchising those whose interests do not coincide with those of the group or coalition.   It is a system that works by pandering to the basest and most paranoid instincts of the electorate in order to correl the basest and most paranoid of the electorate into the service of those same groups and coalitions.   It is a system that claims justification from the alledged wisdom of the people while doing its utmost to pander to the urge of its people to be smug and satisfied with their own ignorance and stupidity.

What exactly is the justification of this sausage?  That there is voting and there is that sticker?  

Maybe if you think what is in the sausage and what effect there would be in eating it is less important than the sticker.

That may be a merely irresponsible point of view had the sausage not put a trump at the button controlling 1/2 of the world’s nuclear weapons.

This sausage with the sticker “democracy” on it has now by that strayed dangerously close to being a cynide pill not for just that “hidden surge” of voters, not just for Americans, but for much of humanity.

So “If you think continuing down that same path is going to work well come mid terms and 2020 I would strongly urge you to reconsider.”.   Reconsider what?   Let that surge of voter who has turn the sausage into something beginning to resemble a collective suicide pack not have another go?

The left might not need good guys, right now..how has that been going? This is what I'm trying to stress.  It might actually need shitty people willing to do and say shitty things when that serves the cause of either truth or the country.  

Thats how the left found itself living in an alt-right hellscape to begin with.  The right found enough people with the will-to-do, the will-to-say.  Fair or not, good or not...it;s effective.  The lefts constant obsession with high ground might mean they;ve won some ridiculous culture war..but they did so at the expense of losing -everything- else.

If it takes shitty people doing shitty things, it's not good. It's not effective. The left looks like a bunch of slobbering lunatics, right along with the right. They're indistinguishable.

The problem is america has become so degenerate that anyone who is not a slobbery lunatic is perceived as weak, or even worse, something so bad it is as bad as what the right wing fring’s Bogeyman “socialist”.

There is a huge difference between a hypothetical to make a point, and what Fonda said.

Saying something like "how would Trump feel if Barron was ripped from his mother's arms and thrown in a cage?" is a hypothetical to make a comparison with a real situation and try and enact some empathy from Trump and his followers.

What Fonda said was a borderline threat against the son of the President. In fact I'd call it an actual threat but with no real seriousness behind it.

I'm flabbergasted that it's anything but condemned in its entirety.

In the present atmosphere, the side that condemns its own gross excesses will be seen as weak and indecisive next  to the side the revels and extols in its.    If this has not been made clear in the previous 20 years, it should not still be unclear after 2016.


This is no longer the America of the Army McCarthy hearing where much abused but still existent sense of common decency can still overturn the power of the ruthless but crass opportunist. This is an America where any mea cupola is but another point for the other side in the final tally.

Only through the opposition refusing to learn this would trump stay in the whitehouse, to be followed by more trumps until this country becomes a cesspit on the edge of civil war.
