In today’s America, the only moral high ground is the political corpse of the enemy you are able to beat to the ground and climber up to standing on, and everyone who is not with you is a political enemy. There is no “same team”. There is no “common good”. There is no “bipartisanship”, there is but the thinnest and most resented lip service to these.
If that hasn’t been clear since 1994, nor in 2000, nor yet during all of 2008-2016, then you have no business playing this game.
