"More Evolved" or "Less Evolved" is absolutely meaningless in a vacuum. Evolution is about being suited to an environment, and simply having more changes doesn't make them inherently better or worse.
Just for one case in point: The crocodilian family. It managed to survive the same extinction event that killed off the dinosaurs. Specifically, the American Alligator appears to have stayed the same for over eight million years (possibly even thirty). Around the same time, the last common ancestor between humans and chimpanzees was probably still around, and the hominid fossils found from around that time most likely looked like this:

Clearly, we've evolved in ways gators haven't. That said, if one of us had to go up against one (at least without the benefit of some hunting tools), it's blindingly obvious who'd end up on top, millions of years of evolution be damned.
Of course, if we had some hunting tools (and I know Khem's mouth is watering at the prospect), things might turn out better for us, but the fact remains: more evolved is not inherently better.
