Kristine Kruszelnicki is an anti-abortion atheist.

I think Matt makes the stronger argument.

Abortion is the killing of young humans.

At 5 days, all that exists is a 16 cell blastocyst. The cells are completely undifferentiated and it looks like a balloon. It is still in the fallopian tube.

Between week 1 and week four, the cells start differentiating, but there is not even a neural tube yet.

Week 5, the neural tube starts developing nerve cells.

Week 6, neurons have formed synapsis and are sending simple impulses.

Week 7, the heart starts beating.

Week 8, the spinal chord, barely developed, looks more like a tail.

Week 9, the eyes, mouth, tongue are forming.

Week 10, hands and feet are starting to form fingers and toes. Brain waves are present (much different than nerve impulses at week 6).

Week 11, gums and teeth.

Week 12. fingers and toes more recognisable, but still webbed.

Week 13, the fetus is still about 7 cm long (about 2 3/4 inches).

At week 20, the ears are functional, at week 21, the eyelids separate.

So, where in this process does the fertilized egg become a 'young human'?

At viability.
