It's not supposed to. It's a way of looking at empirical reality. It is the best method so far for doing so. God is nothing than metaphysical what if, only seemingly exist in minds of humans, created as an anthropization of nature.

Not all atheists are like that. I would say, however, that we know your god (whoever that may be), if it is defined in a way that is impossible, your God does not exist.

God didn't say that. Human scribes in the Roman Empire said that and their words are now being interpreted as speaking for him. You just assume that this god created the world as is, as an apriori assumption. The evidence for your god in this world is nothing more than human confirmation bias, selection bias, and interpretations of events in the world. It's rather weird that the events that happen in the world that attributed to god, are same things that would have happened anyway.
