Indeed. One of the things I have always found ironic is the philosopher's deep question, "Why am I here?" My cats can answer that question without any effort at all: I'm here to serve them. No mystery at all. Silly humans.
I wish I could give you a brand and model number but Google, "Quiet cat shears." I did that and found an electric shears that is so quiet, even cats don't notice them. I have a long-hair kitty that we have to trim regularly. There are very quiet shears on the market that work well.
I shaved a highly combative Persian with regular electric clippers. I conditioned him to the noise over a period of a month and shaved him in increasingly larger patches over two weeks. Just running the clipper over him without trying to cut anything was, I found, effective in the conditioning phase.
And he didn't know he looked damn CUTE in a lion cut.
