I didn't ask you if it was scriptural. I'm looking for clarity on something very specific. Is this important to you. Do you need this to be true for your religion to be true?
You know, this would make for an important separate topic: why can't Christians embrace the evidence of their senses and science without losing their faith? The speculation I thought was most on point is that what really matters is not losing their community standing. A shared understanding of the scripture is felt to be essential for a continued sense of belonging to that community. Since you can't get the whole community to take the step to incorporate evolution together, no one must change a thing. It is too bad and is a real hinderance for them all. Soon they'll have little communes like the quakers where everyone seals themselves off from the modern world.
