All my games are bought from the PlayStation store... ie digital (that's the other thing I'm liking about this; that I can use the PS4 like a Kindle for games and never bother with hard copies any more)... does that make a difference? (since you said they need to be disc games).

I think you still misunderstand. Multiplayer games themselves are simply multiplayer without needing the Plus subscription.
The only problem you might encounter with the digital downloads is that you might eventually run out of memory.
Yeah... in that case I really don't understand; a lot of them for instance say to get a Plus account to use their online/multiplayer features... so I don't know what level of multiplayer falls outside of that purview... but as I said, trial and error I might get there...
Yeah, I'm not worried about that; it's a 1TB HDD and extendable after that... also my sister said it keeps it in the cloud as it were... like the kindle... so if you delete a game you can... at least sometimes... download it again in the future.
