There was not. 
There is not a shred of evidence there ever was a flood which wiped out virtually all of humanity. 
It's nothing but delusional crap. 
Asserting falsehoods does not make them true.
There is no massive silt layer. All floods have silt layers. Not even a relatively small silt layer exists common to the Near East.

The interesting thing about this, is the extent of "compartmentalization" necessary for fundy believers to buy into this shit.

Other civilizations have massive flood stories.  Christianity is not the only one.

Christianity has no flood story. The myth of a large flood was common in the ancient Near East. The one in the Bible was copied from the Gilgamesh Epic. 
There fact there are flood stories in no way means they had any way of knowing anything other than their locality. 
There is NO evidence of a massive flood. None.There is no evidence most of humanity EVER was wiped out. The genetic diversity observed today took hundreds of thousands of years to develop, and remains intact.

The fact you keep repeating this childish nonsense WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE demonstrates you have nothing to back up your wishy-washy changing statements about a flood. 
Repeating a lie does not make a lie true. There are all sorts of commonalities in ancients myths. They remain myths.
