Republicans are opposed to greater voter participation. Unless that changes, or a greater number of people support it, it ain't gonna happen. I'm in favor of it, but the only realistic path would be a constitutional amendment, and that ain't gonna happen. I'd be in a favor of an amendment delegating the right to set uniform voting and registration requirements to the federal government, but that's unlikely to happen for the same reasons.
