God always has been and always will be, just like our true selves. I appreciate your honesty and flexibility, but God has been proven to me beyond any and all doubt, so I am looking at things from a very different perspective.

So then you're not really a theist, I see. If you have proof, you need no faith. You're the only theist on the planet who doesn't need faith. How bizarre.

An omnipotent deity could have created a race of robot universe makers .... and this would suffice to plug in your god-gap.
A "designer" could be anyone on the design chain.

I can assure you that I am not the only theist who does not need faith. Many of us have had God proven to us beyond any and all doubt. You just don't want to accept that we know something that you don't know yet. We are living on entirely different level of existence than you are. God did not create our souls, just our flesh to inhabit while we are here. Some day you will be just as sure about all of this as I am. Peace.
