If you think so, then why don't you tell me about a better way to do it. I have only been on here for 3 days and am trying to get some work done at the same time.

This forum uses BBCode (https://www.phpbb.com/community/help/bbcode) to format text.  The best way to quote someone is to click 'Reply' at the bottom of the post you want to reply to.  This will bring you to a page with the forum's rich text editor.  Click the last button in the horizontal tool panel (the one that looks like a piece of paper with lines on it).  That will put you in source mode, which will show you where the beginning and ending quote tags are applied.  From there, well, play with adding/removing tags until you're satisfied with how things look (click Preview Post rather than Post Reply).
