Whateverist, VulcanLogician, LadyForCamus, Aegon, Tiberius, Poca, Fat&Faithless, Belaqua, Mooney, etc... and even Khem, who I otherwise despise, was really impressing me and I was for once able to relate to some of what he was saying and see his point of view.
That always surprised me that you two didn't click, although he can be challenging. But he and I started here together and I swear if I could have just one forum member to have grown up with as a brother, he'd be it regardless of who was first born. He is brilliant and fall down funny. Plus he practices at least the second half of your motto. He is fearless. And he isn't exclusively kind but his kids all seem to like him and his wife would kick your ass if you made a move on him. (Not that a respectable lady like you would of course.)
Well he was super nasty to me right off the bat. On my very first thread on AF. I tried to get along with him for a long time because people kept telling me he was cool. But he was always just a complete dick to me. No reason why I should like someone who treats me like a piece of shit. Also, he is the only person I have on ignore. That kinda says a lot.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
