But, sure, I'm in favor of having women required to register for selective service when they're 18. The US hasn't had a draft in over 40 years and it has little chance of being resurrected so it would be symbolic, anyway.
It could, however, help women gain equality in other arenas of US society and it's about damn time for that. So yeah, bring on selective service.

I actually "conflating" nothing. I am well aware of the difference.
I suggested everyone should be required to serve, and if people want only volunteers FROM the already serving "everyone" set, then fine.
Yes, I re-read your original post and didn't quite understand it the 2nd time. And I'm sorry, I don't quite get your very last point above. But no matter. I'm on board with whatever brings equal rights for all and it sounds like you are too.
