You have Isaiah 45:7 in your signature.  The ESV has it translated as, "I form light and create darkness; I make well-being and create calamity; I am the Lord, who does all these things."

I checked a number of Hebrew references and concordances .. they all translate it as "evil".

The Hebrew word for evil is, and that's what it says : רשע

Interesting.  That is the way KJV translates it as well.  ESV has a bad translation then.  ESV is normally a solid translation.
