I understand that people getting together makes a great story, but I'm also sure there are plenty of interesting things that can happen to people who are already together, if the writer thinks hard enough. Retreading old ground just makes me think the two aren't made for each other after all.
Regardless of what we may think of writers, it remains true that a bird in the hand is more valuable than two in the bush.
