Hmmm ... I've read hundreds, if not thousands of brain MRI reports. I don't think I ever once read that a patient complained about any sort of memory disruption.

And if we're receiving our consciousness from elsewhere, why does it all seem to be conscious of right here and now? Rather than some distant galaxy or some other dimension or somesuch?
And to further trick us, we *just happen* to see the parts of the brain "light up" on MRI's in the regions we know are responsible for the functions of consciousness involved, being studied during the scan, and to trick us even further, the time (nano-seconds, or fractions of seconds, are measurable from the "light up" to reported consciousness). Those tricky little devil gods, and tricky little souls.
