Kind of like the Ozarks.
Hey! Most of my relatives live south of I-44!
So, yeah, you're right.
Here in the South there seems to be no end to the number of numbnuts we have.

Pretty much. According to what I read everyone spent the first night on the boats out of arrow range. The next morning our award winner takes a canoe to the island where he gets shot with arrows but paddles back to the boat. Morning two he goes back. This time the natives destroy his canoe, but he swims back to the boat again. Day 3 he goes back to the island one more time, and the next time the fishermen see him the natives are dragging his body into the jungle. Suicide by caveman...
Exactly. Here's your sign missionaries.

Is one dead body, (dead because it didn't belong there in the first place), worth the additional alienation, trauma, health risks, power flexing, ..............
And then what, have a ceremony then burn it or stick it in the ground again.
Yeah, that does sound rather pointless, I would have to agree. I would just leave him where he fell. Let that be an example to the converters. Tribal people have their own religions, and this particular tribe, the Sentinelese, don't want their stinking white man's god.

As I understand it the last the others saw of him was as his body was being dragged into the jungle.
If you're worried about it you can go get it.
That's right, just add yourself to the list of idiots who choose suicide by Paleaolithic hunter-gatherers.

Nothing good can come from letting xtians land.
Exactly. Contact between the Sentinelese and the West would only serve to make the Sentenilese extinct. There is only an estimated 40 to 500 of them. No one really knows for sure, but it makes sense since they live on a really tiny island.

Uhhhh....
Dead xtians???
Well yeah, that is one good thing.

Quote:Should the "illegal aliens go home" crowd be given the same latitude? "They don't know any help better - so you have to respect their wishes,"......Nope because they are not remotely the same .

Exactly. Let me put it in another way. What part of "no" do you not understand. I would have to say arrows all over one's body is a most definite "hell no!"

I suppose I could be wrong.
Here' s a plan -- seeing you seem to think they' re not a bunch of murdering xenophobes.
You go talk to them, get the real dope, and set us straight on the matter...
We await your instruction..
And i'll state again comparing a stone culture to xenophobes in the US is dumb
The reason they kill strangers could be as simple as that the Sentinelese are very territorial. Or it could be ritualistic hunting. Who knows? No anthropologist, or anyone, for that matter, who went there has ever survived long enough to find out.

Quote:A Catholic Priest was about to leave His Mission in the jungles where he has spent years teaching the natives when he realizes that the one thing he never taught them was how to speak English, so he takes the chief for a walk in the forest. He points to a tree and says to the chief, "This is a tree." The chief looks at the tree and grunts, "Tree."
The Priest pleased with the response. They walk a little farther and he points to a rock and says, "This is a rock Hearing this, the chief looks and grunts, "Rock." The Priest really getting enthusiastic about the results when he hears a rustling in the bushes. As he peeks over the top, he sees a couple of natives in the midst of heavy sexual activity. The priest is really flustered and quickly responds, "Riding a bike." The chief looks at the couple briefly, pulls out his blowgun and kills them.
The Priest goes ballistic and yells at the chief that he has spent years teaching the tribe how to be civilized and kind to each other, so how could he kill these people in cold blood that way?
The chief replied, "He riding My bike."
