No they didn't. This is God Allmighty we're talking about. He don't need no stinking volcanoes! He can just say "Let there be land!" and the continents say "Yes Sir, God Sir! How much land would you like?"

The planet was created in the way planets are created. Since you can't create one, I don't think you should judging God's way of doing it.

I don't need to make something to see the problems in the way it works. Volcanoes kill people needlessly, and you can't escape that malevolence.

No, this is people we are talking about. This is not God's planet or God's challenge. This planet was created for us, not for God. You don't want to suffer, don't cause any suffering to others and you won't. It is as simple as that.

People didn't make this planet. Stop playing like the natural forces are our fault.

And stop acting like causing suffering is some form of karma or justice. You know that suffering doesn't make people better.

Suffering only the pain that you have intentionally caused to others is in no way horrific punishment. It is just eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth.

Yes, it really is horrific. You don't beat the good into people.

Not that beating your kids helps them grow up to be well-adjusted.

God is not beating anyone. People are intentionally causing pain,  and then suffering only the pain they have intentionally caused to others. How many times do I have to explain this to you? Jesus explains it like 10 times in the NT.  OT God explains it over and over. Hindus and Buddhists know it. Muslims live by it. That's like 5 billion people who have no problem understanding perfect justice. Try to wrap your head around it.

Oh, I think I see precisely what you mean. A couple of points:

(1) Making people suffer the pain that they caused doesn't make them better people. It makes them even more brutal. That is precisely how bullies are made.

(2) God is all-powerful and can always find a better way to make people better. One that is painless.

So if even we mortals know that this is not merely needless, not merely senseless, but actually counter-productive suffering then God's either the biggest incompetent or the biggest bastard in the history of history.

Only in your warped version of God and reality. People learn to stop hurting others by suffering through the pain they have caused.

No, they really don't. If you beat a kid you don't end up with a better kid. You end up with a kid who beats their kids. If God inflicts suffering on people who cause suffering then he's fighting fire with gasoline.
