Indoctrination and shaming are powerful tools.
Because, per the bible, women are things to be owned and controlled and not people with independent minds and an ability to make choices.
Sounds like your interpretation. Why do you believe it's telling you to own women? If not, why do you believe it's telling any specific person, or even everybody" to own and control a woman?
