Genesis 26:8

LOL I guess I'm opening this topic because of a blatant example how translators of the numerous versions of the Bible are all having their own issues with parts of the Bible. This one is in Genesis 26:8. In it Isaac is having sex with his wife Rebekah in full view of King Abiymolokh of Gerar (or should I say in the open), but if you look at the numerous translations of the Bible you can see that translators want to deceive sheep by giving different renditions - I mean imagine the authority that can administer over the word of god itself. It would be funny if it weren't real. Most versions say that Isaac is caressing his wife, but some say they were laughing, "sporting" (what the heck is that?), kissing, playing, dallying.

Only Good News Translation says it right "When Isaac had been there for some time, King Abimelech looked down from his window and saw Isaac and Rebecca making love."

do you not understand what a codex is?

A codex is a compilation of manuscripts from which the bibles are translated. in 16th century there were far fewer know codacees than there are now. So for older translations we might find somthig like 'sporting' where as time went on we found more accurate and older codacees which may change a word or meaning of a command.

Another difference you will find between ot KJV and a modern translation is in the command "thou shalt not kill." where as a modern bible records you shall not murder. The difference I am speaking of is not in the English but the use of the word kill verse murder. To kill is a Prohibition on taking any human life period. lots of people had problems with this who were asked to goto war. then in the mid 40s the dead sea scrolls were found which gave us codacees much much older and verified with other known texts. which allowed the change to murder which is an unauthorized taking of life.
