During the 1980's and 1990's I used to put on semi-professional fireworks shows for the neighbourhood every 4th of July. There would be a big BBQ party next door with 50-60 people in attendance. This included some of the local police and firemen.
When I lived in Alaska in the early 90s, there was an old quarry that us 'powder monkeys' would go to and detonate all sorts of improvised 'fireworks'. And we did it year round. A lot of that stuff was far more powerful than anything that you could buy at a fireworks store. There is no way that we would be able to do that stuff now. We would probably be up on federal charges and be suspected of being terrorists and whatnot.
Is whatnoting illegal there?
