My parents also taught me math, reading, and writing prior to kindergarten. Does that mean they were brainwashing me? No. Again, I took a critical look at my faith many times so I am not brainwashed. Based on all the evidence before me, I believe Christianity is the one and only true faith.
Funny how people in other religions feel the same way about themselves. But of course, in your eyes, it's they who are brainwashed. This amazing feat of blindness to the double standard is only possible for you because you are a rank idiot.
There is a fine line between brainwashing and socialisation.
Religion is an accident of birth for most people. Those beliefs, along with our values and general world view, are absorbed, uncritically, when we are very young, and exceedingly gullible. We simply accept whatever we are taught as we lack the mental acuity to question much before our teen years.. Those values/ beliefs/ world views so acquired may certainly be compared with brainwashing .
I rarely come across anyone who has ever critically examined their basic beliefs and world view. The atheists here seem to be atypical. The Christians, stereotypical .
