Again God set the moral code as love God and neighbor and He gave the Ten Commandments.
1. There is no life-form on the planet Earth that does not die. There is no evidence anything changed that made man mortal.
BTW, you're contradicting yourself. If man always had immortal souls, then he didn't really die anyway. So which is it ? Die or not die ?
