Seems to me you are the one having problems with belief, the man believes what he does because that satisfies him, it doesn't satisfy the scriptures and those are the truth. He's lying to himself to keep perceived problems from confusing him. Study is always the best way to understand the truth, simply producing his own truth doesn't make it truth at all.
