A) Not know that Satan was going to rebel?
B) Not manage to stop Satan rebelling?

The notion of the devil being a fallen angel (Lucifer) is part of Jewish tradition. As to how he could rebel; jews and Christians tend to agree on free will. I've always had a problem with that; God is omniscient, which means all knowing .He knows absolutely how his creations will behave, from first to last breath.To me, knowing the future abrogates free will. if I have this wrong , I hope one of our resident philosophers will explain my error . (no, really)

The Christian concept of the devil/ satan, has been lifted directly from Greek/ Roman religion*. The devil is no more than the harmless and good time god Pan.

God transcends time here. In the heavenly realm he no longer transcends time. His creature, Satan, rebelled. He gave him and his followers no chance of redemption. Only humans have the atoning blood of Christ to cover their sins if they accept Him as Lord and savior.
