He was a high ranking cherub who grew pride in his heart and turned against his Creator. He had the free will to do that just like we can choose God or not. There are no fence sitters from my understanding.

The fact he turned against his creator says a great deal about his creator that he was a being undeserving of loyalty . God gave him the ability to feel pride thus it's still gods fault . The fact he gave satan freewill still makes his rebellion gods fault and the fact your god neither appealing enough as a god to cause a his greatest servant to turn against him or smart enough to convince Satan not to rebel says it all . Only a tyrant says "your with me or your against me "

God transcends time here. In the heavenly realm he no longer transcends time. His creature, Satan, rebelled. He gave him and his followers no chance of redemption. Only humans have the atoning blood of Christ to cover their sins if they accept Him as Lord and savior.
