There are constant world wars now with the threat of chemical, biological, nuclear, and radiological weapons.

An AR is a real gun.  Same gun law enforcement purchase is the one I purchased.  It is based on the Colt M4 used by military and spec ops.  I buy for personal protection and for fun shooting on the range or outdoors.

They're pop guns marketed at kids and paranoiacs.  If you wanted a range gun, you should have grabbed a .22fortner with a staged trigger.  If you bought it with dreams of shooting another person "in self defense" then I strongly doubt that anyone should sell you a firearm of any kind.

It is for personal protection primarily. I would never want to have to use it. I also have pistols and a shotgun, all primarily for personal protection.

Your pea-shooter is nothing compared to what an invading army can bring forth.... let's see.... NUKES!... intercontinental missiles carrying a nuclear payload, Tanks with 150+mm High Explosive shells, rocket launchers, grenades... Airplanes dropping bombs... and who knows? chemical warfare...
If you need individual protection against thugs and thieves, you are probably living in a very dangerous place. I suggest moving to a better neighborhood.
If you're worried that your government becomes tyrannical... well... you voted to have that tyranny, so it's something you welcome and embrace.
