But go ahead, lie to me and everyone else and, importantly and most effectively, to yourself..again...as is your habit.
Yeah, he took the guns from anyone that would oppose the party.

WWII era I suppose. 1930s approx.
Umm, WW2 started in 1939. The US declared war on Japan after its attack on Pearl harbour Dec 7 1941. Germany declared war on the US shortly after.
From 1929 until the beginning of WW2 there was a little thing called "The Great Depression". The1930's would have been a great time to live, if you were either rich or had a job, and your wages hadn't been cut.
Plus of course assuming neither you nor anyone you loved contracted polio, or needed a major operation. Or did not contact say syphilis. There was no vaccine , nor cure for polio nor antibiotics. ----and the 40 hour week was still a dream.
ME? I've always been glad I'm a baby boomer. The second half of the 20th century was a fantastic time to be alive, assuming of course you managed to avoid being sent to Vietnam.
The rate and nature of changes was amazing. For me, the two greatest inventions of the 20th century were the contraceptive pill, )and with it, panty hose ) and the micro chip. These two inventions changed to very nature of Western Societies.
Was I a hippy? Certainly not. I've always considered hippies to be a bunch of bourgeois wankers. (at least the ones I knew))
