No it's not ... those writers philosophy is what made them atheists ... atheism means nothing more or less than disbelief in claimed deity. Claiming to be a theist is the same though a religionist is not ... if you could say a person was a specific brand of atheist you might be right but just being an atheist has no philosophical implications.

Well, that may be true--but there ARE some philosophical tendancies tied to it. For instance, naturalism is a philosophy, as opposed to the mind/matter one, meaning that your mind is a separate thing, not physical. Naturalism states otherwise, and I agree--your mind is in your brain, a series of chemical, nuerons, etc...
But yeah.
