To die is to exist and then stop existing. Also, not believing in an idea doesn't kill the idea. If you were trying to reference Nietzsche then I think you have a very poor understanding of what he meant when he wrote that.
Glob...
So when Nietzsche says it and references the idea of a global 'enlightenment' brought on by 'science and strong philosophy' rising to prominence in the world replacing the church and it's archaic understanding of the world and how it works and how we will move on.. Is par for the course for someone like you when they say God is dead...
Why do you keep accusing atheists of agreeing with the statement "God is dead" or touting it themselves? I don't necessarily agree with him on his point, as he was very fearful of what may replace God as a stabilizing force in our society... I personally agree with parts of his argument and disagree with others...

When I the representative of the church in this discussion use the phrase, It can not be to reference 19th century philosophers 'stone' as it where, let alone use it in a discussion to partially describe someone's stated reasons for abandoning belief?
Why?
Because My use of a 200 year old quote goes against christian stereotypes?
No dude lmao. That's not why. I don't care about Christian stereotypes. I'm focused on your words and reasoning, not you personally.
Quote:Riddle me this sport. If I was not saying God was 'killed' by a secular enlightenment why would I have referenced a move who's title and main antagonist takes Nietzsche primary philosphy and address it point by point? why would I have asked when confronted by the OP "I don't think God is dead" with questions concerning/verifying her atheism?
Is English your first language?
Quote:Maybe it is you who is short sighted and can not see the parallels I made, perhaps that might change if and when you become more familiar with nietzsche's work. even if only via a cheeze kevin sorbo movie
Man if your knowledge of an intense work of philosophy starts and ends with the movie "God's Not Dead" then I'll just see my way out of this thread and not look back.

Are you an atheist?
The actual existence of God is IRRELEVANT TO Nietzsche's argument!! The statement is about religion and belief in God's role in our civilization and how many believe in it and how it fits into their lives. It's about collective psychology... so being an atheist doesn't automatically mean I agree with the statement.
