I wonder if they plan to ban coat hangers.
There was a piece in the New York Times over ten years ago explaining exactly what things were like Pre-Roe, abortion-wise. This includes not only coat-hangers, but " darning needles, crochet hooks, cut-glass salt shakers, soda bottles, sometimes intact, sometimes with the top broken off."
At one point, he describes something so disturbing I'll leave it under hide:
If you were brave enough to show that content, remember: this is the world the Pro-Lifers will get if they have their way; a woman whose illegal abortion was so badly botched she got disemboweled.
His conclusion:
Quote:It is important to remember that Roe v. Wade did not mean that abortions could be performed. They have always been done, dating from ancient Greek days.
What Roe said was that ending a pregnancy could be carried out by medical personnel, in a medically accepted setting, thus conferring on women, finally, the full rights of first-class citizens — and freeing their doctors to treat them as such.
And as a result, having an abortion is somewhere in the ballpark of ten times less likely to kill a woman than giving birth (which is still pretty negligible), and it's all because we have people who know what they're doing in charge.
The problem is that these individuals don't actually care if a woman dies in a botched abortion. They will shrug and say "serves her right".
These "people" aren't pro-life. They're pro birth. And they don't give a fuck about the baby or the parents once it's been born, so long that it IS born.
