Alabama is one of the most religious states, but 2007-2014 absolute certainty in the existence of God went from 85% to 82%, belief in heaven went from 87% to 84%, belief in hell went from 78% to 72%; but the trend in Alabama is also towards becoming more conservative in that same period. The percentage of 'Nones' is 12%, but I didn't come across the percentage for that in 2007. They have more atheists than Mormons.

IMHO, I think they see that they aren't going to keep an overwhelming majority of like-minded right-wing Christians in the long run and are grabbing power for themselves and their positions while they still can. Whatever they get away with now, I think it will be reversed in ten years.

Some think it is better for me to post outside the DNA thread. I guess it is just a matter of opinion.
To clarify, I'd like to see you start new threads, not hijack/sidetrack existing ones, for instance this one, which is not about whether abortion is right or wrong. If you participated in a thread on that topic (and it's not like we never have threads on that topic), it would not be 'hijacking'.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
