It is thou shall not murder. Killing in warfare and in self-defense is permitted in the Scriptures. We will be judged by this.

Jesus came along so there could be a kinder, gentler deity than the OT God. The God of hellfire, plagues, and worldwide floods wasn't working out as well as planned.

The Lord of the OT is the same as the NT. The Lord Jesus had a wrath like when he flipped tables and swung a whip. He also condemed people.
Many would define killing in warfare to be murder, especially if you're the aggressor.
And many people throughout history have murdered in the name of their imaginary friend. A loving deity would stop people killing in its name, especially those belinging to its fan club.
