Well, Nap...I was sick, so I went to a doctor. She went to medical school, had degrees, and all this, and yet I ended up in a military hospital because what she called a cold and dismissed was actually pneumonia. People make mistakes, even though she was a qualified practitioner.
Which is why I cited my dad's girlfriend, who is in all other respects a highly critical thinker and someone who I look up to, but who had an experience that scared the crap out of her.
You have to admit, the idea of aliens is really fucking cool. I don't blame people for wanting to find evidence of another intelligent species coming to Earth, anymore than I blame people wanting to find a squatchie. But just because a bunch of people say "I saw this" doesn't make it true. How come there aren't more reports from amateur astronomers and professional ones, who are constantly looking up at the sky from all over the globe? No, the vast majority of reports come from people "unqualified", and then you have a few "qualified" people who really believe in something but don't have the evidence to back themselves up. Dr. Jeff Meldrum (forgive the spelling if that's wrong) is a professor of anthropology and he sincerely believes in Bigfoot, which we have yet to find valid evidence for.
Humans is humans, you know?
