Both are referred to as dolphins.  Deal with it.

BTW - that difference isn't so different.

So? Still a huge difference between how laypeople name things and how scientists name and classify things.

I really don't like this trying to falsely equate the context here. How laypeople name things and how scientists name things are not the same context or "nomenclature".

But 'dolphin' isn't a scientific classification, either.  It's from 'delphis', a Greek word which means 'fish with a womb'.  See?  Even the ancient Greeks knew it was a fish. And of the eight groups commonly called 'dolphins', only one is actually in the group called 'delphinidae'.
