What I'd like to see is stricter background checks that involve an in-depth mental evaluation as well as every gun-owner going through a mandatory shooting and gun safety class.
Will this weed out the mass-shooters? Who's to say? I doubt the NRA will budge any time soon.
Thank you, Ego, for explaining what sort of reasonable gun control you'd like to see. I've heard a lot of people who claim that they're in favour of "Reasonable gun control" but think anything proposed is a bridge too far (and never explain what constitutes "reasonable gun control").
And I won't pretend to have the answers here. Anyone who does is fooling you, or themselves, or both. We certainly have a unique situation happening here in the States, not to mention tragic, but that's even more of a reason for us to tackle this immediately.
How many more kids or innocent adults have to die before we do something about this? It's very bizarre, to say the least, to see the Republicans place more value on guns than on innocent lives.
The thing is, no one I've ever met wants an all-out ban on guns; this us right wing rhetoric used to shoot for the moon and land among the stars, so to speak. I believe in the second amendment whole-heartedly, but at what point are we going to defend an archaic document and realize that, in 2019, something needs to change...?
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.
