Ah, thanks. My residence in SoCal was from 198(mumble) to later. Bought several pieces that were walk-in-walk-out purchases. (My license allowed for immediate possession.)
I bought a pistol when I was stationed at Mare Island in '74. I had to wait some number of days, since I was not licensed for anything.
